Antique wooden Shaker box with hand painted daisies. Perfectly whimsical! Shaker boxes are iconic, functional, bentwood storage boxes that Shaker communities began producing around the end of the 18th century. Typically thin pieces of maple or cherry were soaked in hot water to make them pliable - the wood was then bent around wooden molds and secured on the overlap with metal tacks.
