A large, early 20th century Native American hand-woven fruit basket in outstanding condition. It still has its original patina and aged, dry surface, tempered by oxidation and time. The sidewalls are punctuated with twisted, protruding highs (raised cleats or 'porcupine quills') of the woven sweet grass. Hand-crafted nearly 100 years ago by members of the Micmac Native American tribe from the Penobscot Bay region of Maine.
In great vintage condition, especially given its age. Some areas of wear and discoloration from age and use (as shown in photos).
Measures approximately 5.75" tall, 17" around.
